  2. nyssaainley:

I present to you our cheeky, mischeivous, sexy, evil black velvet clad man.  Master Appreciation post! LIFE

    Fixed that for you.

  3. asphodel27:

In the classic days, Dr Who’s Master Anthony Ainley infamously wrote his letters on Dr Who script pages — and things like this antique postcard. That made his letters doubly treasured!

Oh god, his handwriting…
And yes, he loved using old scripts for letters. “Here’s another page of Rani for your collection,” he once wrote to me…I think that was the same one where he started MSTing the stage directions:

THE DOCTOR swallows hard. (at the Scotch again)

It still doesn’t seem like ten years. It took about a week and a half for the news to reach us Stateside that he had passed away, and I’m ironically grateful for that.  He died on the 3rd; the 4th is my wedding anniversary, and I would have been in no mood to celebrate if we’d found out right away.

Nick Courtney mentioned that he was the only Doctor Who person at Anthony Ainley’s funeral and I got really sad

I would have rather gone the rest of my days not knowing that.

Colin Baker talks about Anthony Ainley in the “Making of” of “The Mark of the Rani.

  7. What?!

    iandsharman:

How can anyone be disturbed by people sexualising AinleyMaster?!

    AinleyMaster is pure sex!

    Dear Christ, yes.

  8. And I’d like to thank doctor-who-wego for 1) posting things in the Anthony Ainley tag that have nothing to do with him and 2) not having an open askbox so I can find out if this was an accident or if zie’s being intentionally rude.

  9. I can’t remember if I’ve uploaded this here previously or not, but I srsly just ran into someone in the Ainley tag who I met at a con almost 30 years ago, and this photo is the closest I have to the relevant time frame. Plus, Anthony.

  10. Oh, Ant. You were an epic life ruiner before the term even existed.
